Our journey began long before BSU Maritime’s inception, through deep involvement with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and various national maritime administrations. Our expertise is backed by a history of achievements:
As the former Deputy Undersecretary of the Turkish Maritime Administration, BSU Maritime founder & lead consultant, Dr. Ustaoglu spearheaded critical reforms, including elevating the Turkish Flag from the Paris MOU's black list to its current white list status—a legacy achievement that endures.
We were instrumental in inaugurating the Turkish Straits Vessel Traffic Services (TSVTS), ensuring its readiness and operational success through our role as project coordinator.
During his academic tenure at the ITU Maritime Faculty, BSU Maratime founder & lead consultant, Dr. Ustaoglu initiated the first-ever Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) General Operator training courses in 1995. This groundbreaking initiative catered to experienced professional seafarers, including foreign nationals, from officer to master mariner.
With experience spanning over 15 years in the Technical Cooperation Division (TCD) of the IMO, we have overseen the management of the Pacific Regional Presence office and fostered teamwork and collaboration in the region.
